Prediction: Webster to TRADOC

LTG William G. Webster
The Secretary of Defense announced today that the President has nominated Army Maj. Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as the commanding general, U.S. Army Central Command/Third U.S. Army, Fort McPherson, Ga.  He will replace LTG William G. Webster, the current commander.

I'm guessing that LTG Webster will be nominated for a fourth star and be named as General Martin Dempsey's replacement as the commander of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC).   LTG Brooks may be confirmed by April 11th.  That's when GEN Dempsey is scheduled to move up to the Army Chief of Staff job, replacing the retiring GEN George W. Casey, Jr.  Leaving TRADOC to take over as Chief of Staff leaves the TRADOC post open, which Webster could fill.

There.  Do I sound like I know what I'm talking about?

  1. Hmmm...ok, then where do you see LTG Caldwell going?

  2. Good question. I'll have to think about that. LTG Caldwell would be a very good choice for TRADOC. He has been a TRADOC deputy commander (as commander of USACAC). He currently directs the NATO Training Mission in Afghanistan. I'll take a stab and say that Caldwell would be a good choice to succeed General Petraeus in October, as the ISAF-A commander, when Petraeus becomes the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
